ForeverMap 2 the First-Ever Map Solution on NOOK

BOSTON, MA (August 16, 2012)—Skyhook (www.skyhook.com), the world leader in location information, context and intelligence, today announced that skobbler (www.skobbler.com), a leading provider of mobile map-based solutions, has integrated Skyhook's Location Engine in ForeverMap 2 to provide location services for the first time on NOOK®. ForeverMap 2, available for FREE on NOOK Apps, is the first-ever map app on NOOK, enabling users to experience and explore their surroundings like never before.

ForeverMap 2 is a digital map solution that includes intuitive route guidance, Wi-Fi positioning, and local and category search functionalities. The app provides deep search functionality to facilitate route calculation via local search, address search and category search. Wi-Fi positioning is supported to enhance route guidance and overall map interaction. Taking advantage of the hundreds of millions of Wi-Fi access points throughout populated areas, Skyhook will consistently power ForeverMap 2 with accurate location information. A premium version, ForeverMap 2 PRO, provides unlimited access to downloadable maps for offline use.

“Prior to ForeverMap 2, maps had not been available on this platform,” said Marcus Thielking, co-founder of skobbler. “We’ve built a one-of-a-kind location solution for NOOK that enhances the user experience by offering that functionality. To do that successfully, though, it’s essential to have the best location performance possible. Skyhook's technology is the most reliable WiFi-location system on the market today, so they were an obvious partner.”

“We’re thrilled to power location functionality in ForeverMap 2 and bring location services to the NOOK for the very first time,” said Maggie Taylor, marketing manager of Skyhook. “We are also eager to provide this location functionality to other apps hoping to port to NOOK devices.”

ForeverMap 2 is available for download for FREE. ForeverMap 2 PRO allows for unlimited access to installable maps and offline use, and is also available for download for $4.99 USD.
