TomTom today announces an extension of its partnership with Sygic in which its turn-by-turn navigation app for Android and iOS will be powered by TomTom global maps and HD Traffic. With the latest version of Sygic GPS Navigation, users will now have access to the highly accurate, comprehensive and up-to-date traffic information on the market via TomTom HD Traffic, ensuring an easy navigation while on-the-go.

"The opportunity to extend the reach of our HD Traffic product means that more drivers have access to live traffic information, ultimately helping to reduce congestion globally," said Nuno Campos, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for TomTom Licensing. "We’re confident that TomTom HD Traffic will help Sygic customers select the fastest route to their destination, saving them time and money."

“We’ve chosen TomTom’s real-time traffic solution because it has already proven to bring efficiency to commuters using it, with savings of up to 50 minutes per week,” said Michal Stencl, Chief Executive Officer at Sygic. “We believe that the navigation experience of Sygic users will be enriched not only by the live traffic content but also the other location content provided by TomTom.”

TomTom HD Traffic contains information from multiple data sources, including connected navigation devices, mobile phones, road sensors and real time incident data. TomTom combines this anonymous data aimed at delivering the quickest route through traffic.
