URISA’s Vanguard Cabinet of Young GIS Professionals to Host Virtual Informational Sessions

Des Plaines, IL, Nov 29, 2012 - URISA’s Vanguard Cabinet (VC) is an advisory board made up of GIS professionals (35 years of age or younger) who represent the young membership of the organization. In advance of the 2013 VC application deadline on December 17, the current Vanguard Cabinet will be hosting a free informational webinar on Tuesday, December 11 at 3:00 PM Eastern and also a Google+ hangout on Wednesday, December 12 at 8:00 PM Eastern to introduce themselves, their mission, and what they are striving to accomplish within URISA.  Whether you are a ‘young professional’ planning to apply to the Vanguard Cabinet, a mid-career ‘seasoned mapper,’ or someone wanting to learn more, please attend!  

The Young Professionals of the Vanguard Cabinet welcome questions beforehand by e-mailing urisa.vc@gmail.com.  There are also chat opportunities within Adobe Connect as well as all the cool features Google offers with hangouts if you do not have a chance to e-mail your questions.

About the URISA Vanguard Cabinet - The Vanguard Cabinet (VC) is a URISA initiative to engage young GIS practitioners, increase their numbers in the organization, and better understand the concerns facing these future leaders of the GIS community.  The VC is an advisory board made up of URISA young professionals who represent the young membership of the organization.  The Cabinet’s mission is to collaborate with URISA’s Board of Directors and Committees in creating and promoting programs and policies of benefit to young professionals. Comprised entirely of passionate young members selected from different geospatial disciplines, the Cabinet aims to position URISA as the center of opportunities for creative young professionals who are committed to improving URISA and the geospatial profession via innovation, collaboration, networking, and professional development.
