A unique web portal for visualizing and managing major construction projects, built with Visual Fusion software, is the subject of a new case study. The study details how ENGlobal Corporation, a provider of engineering and project management services, created a solution that lets users instantly grasp the status of each project. ENGlobal created the portal with Visual Fusion business intelligence software from IDV Solutions. Visual Fusion unites data sources in a visual, interactive context for better insight and understanding.

The portal provides ENGlobal's project engineers and clients with color-coded map views of complex projects such as pipelines and electrical transmission lines. Such projects can entail hundreds of land acquisitions and right-of-way agreements, and require ongoing coordination among ENGlobal, its clients, contractors, and regulatory agencies. The Visual Fusion solution consolidates project planning and tracking, document management, reporting, and client collaboration.

The solution complements the company's investment in traditional GIS systems, by combining spatial data with engineering drawings, contracts, aerial photos, Web feeds, and databases, and making it all available in real time from one location. The study is available for downloading from the IDV website.
