Managing and Exposing Structured and Unstructured Metadata/Content Using Open Standards

Just the facts

In today’s environment, it is more important that organizations make their information discoverable and accessible. Managing unstructured and structured content can pose a major challenge. Compusult will provide an overview and demonstration of the latest version of its Meta Manager software. Meta Manager is a solution that can connect your existing data to Open Data government portal environments. Using Meta Manager you can now get entire unstructured or structured collections of data online and discoverable in a matter of hours rather than weeks or months.

In this webinar you will learn

  • How easy it can be to manage and expose your data to Open Data or other standards-based portals without having to convert or manually create your metadata, and ensure it complies with standards
  • How to take unstructured data and catalog it
  • How to utilize the right amount of metadata when exposing your digital assets
  • How to connect your information and content using Meta Manager to the CKAN open source data portal software. CKAN is the portal software used in many government-based open data portals, such as data.gov, data.gc.ca and data.gov.uk.

More details

Meta Manager is a cost-effective solution for metadata management for both structured and unstructured data. It supports exposing metadata contained within relational database management systems by mapping metadata attributes to a metadata standard. For unstructured data, Meta Manager will crawl directory systems, detect files, and automatically extract the metadata for search, discovery and access purposes. The tool also provides the ability to manually enter metadata. Meta Manager uses a number of international standards such OGC Catalog Services for the Web (CSW), ISO 19115, Dublin Core, etc.
