The Expanding Reach of Geospatial Intelligence: Lessons Learned from 21,000 Students

The 21,000 students of the recently completed Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) confirmed that Geospatial Intelligence, or GEOINT, is an internationally recognized concept. The international notion of GEOINT goes beyond the narrow national defense-related definition in the U.S. Code. GEOINT delivers insights gained from place and time for a decision advantage. GEOINT plays a critical role in the US and other countries’ efforts to keep the homeland safe, secure, and resilient against terrorism and other hazards.

In this webinar we will examine:

  •  Lessons learned from the recently completed GEOINT MOOC
  • The emerging worldwide definition of geospatial intelligence
  • Why GEOINT is an important international component to homeland security
  • Aspects of professionalism in GEOINT

Speakers

Dr. Todd S. Bacastow, Penn State University

Dr. Greg Thomas, Penn State University

Who should attend – federal, state, tribal, and local government officials, private sector partners, and community organizations involved in geospatial intelligence and homeland security and emergency management efforts.
