LBS-Regulatory Framework and Business Opportunities in India

This webinar has ended. A recording will be made available shortly—please check back.
Join us for a presentation from Rajan S. Mathews, Director General, Cellular Operators Association of India(COAI) on LBS-regulatory framework and business opportunities in India.

This webinar will focus on the LBS Regulatory Framework in India and the business opportunities available. The concern of telcos in India are embedded in Equipment Security Agreement, which mandates the implementation of Location Based Infrastructure. which could cost the Indian telecom operators approximately $5 billion. According to the COAI, the new Equipment Security Agreement requires operators to maintain location information up to accuracy of 50 meters for customers specified by Security Agencies to 50 meters by 1st June 2012, and all customers by June 2014. Further, Indian Government directed all telecom operators in the country to make location of all mobile users across the country available as part of Call Data Records (CDR) by 2014. COAI feels it's a big challenge for the telecom operators to keep a record of such a massive data.

In this webinar Rajan Mathews will share his views and that of the telecom operators who are an integral part of the upcoming mobile LBS market. Prior to joining COAI as DG in April 2010, Rajan served in many senior executive positions such as CEO, COO and CFO of such major companies as Telargo (a JV of NTT DoCoMo), Afghan Wireless, Call Sciences, AT&T Wireless, Birla-AT&T (now IDEA), and as a senior financial executive at Beatrice International, Columbia-Tri Star Pictures, and Pricewaterhouse Coopers.
