Utilities today face huge challenges complying with the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC) transmission corridor regulations adopted in 2010. The regulations require the utilities to ensure safe and reliable operations of all transmission lines. This webinar will provide a detailed explanation of how to acquire LiDAR data and use it to develop models that increase accuracy and consistency in evaluating line ratings.

Montgomery will give an overview on LiDAR and Fass will provide details on the development of LiDAR missions, specifically touching on the NERC regulations. Tyson will describe several case studies, as well as offer lessons learned about acquiring and using LiDAR data for utilities applications.
