How the city of Charlotte, North Carolina is improving response time to citizen requests with geospatial technology
City of Charlotte staff needed a holistic, real-time view of information to respond to residents’ requests for information, many of which pertain to location (recycling sites, construction permits, street maintenance, etc.). Virtual Charlotte was launched in March 2009 and 14 divisions now participate. The integration of Google Maps and the ArcGIS Server has made data once stored in siloed systems much more accessible.
