New York City Parks and Recreation Online (NYCPRO)

Brief Description: New York City Parks and Recreation Online (NYCPRO) is a web application that lets you discover parks and recreational opportunities in New York City. You can search for parks by neighborhood, as well as limit your search to certain recreational activities. You can also locate other ammenities on the map, such as bike shops, restaurants, hospitals, landmarks, or lodging with the map search, and you can locate multi-use trails in the city.

NYCPRO is an ASP.NET application with a simple relational database backend, as well as a mash up of Google Maps, Twitter, Flickr, and the NYC Dept of Parks and Recreation website.

The site was created for the NYC Big Apps Competition (http://www.nycbigapps.com/application-gallery/new-york-city-parks-and-recreation-online-nycpro). Please vote for it when the polls open December 15, 2009 :)
