Natural State Digital Database (NSDD) was developed by the Spatial Analysis
Laboratory (SAL) to serve the GIS user community and the state of Arkansas.
This web site is a reality because of the work of the SAL, along with other
people in the state who feel there should be a site in Arkansas to obtain
free base GIS data. The site contains more than 100 GB of data that can
be downloaded free. The following data set groups are available. Arkansas
County Data Layers Arkansas State Data Layers Arkansas Digital USGS Quadrangle
Maps (DRGs) Arkansas USGS Digital Orthographic Quads (DOQs) GPS Base Station
Data
This
database provides information about geographic information resources in
an effort to improve their efficient use through information sharing. Includes
metadata information from cities, counties, utilities, state and federal
agencies, private businesses and academic institutions that have California
environmental information and spatial data resources.
The
California Dept. of Forestry and Fire Protection, Fire and Resource Assessment
Program makes every effort to provide its data to the public free of charge
in a format that is useable by the largest number of potential users. Downloads
available include: 1:100K, 1:250K, 7.5'Quads, bioregions, ranger units,
change detection programs, fire management environments, vegetation, rainfall,
demographics.
Public
data layers and software downloads covering biological geography, cultural
geography, economic geography and physical geography for the State of California.
Census
and voter registration data for the State of California. Search for data
by geographic area, or election. Most data are available in shape file
format.
This
is a portion of the City of Redding basemap, containing approximately 6,900
parcels in shapefile format. The datum used is California State Plane Zone
1, NAD 27.
GIS
data layers for the greater San Diego area. SANDAG maintains extensive
databases of facts and figures from a historical perspective, current information,
and forecasted information. The information encompasses population growth,
housing, employment, and income as well as data on crime and the local
economy.
The
San Francisco Bay and the Delta comprise a rich and diverse coastal ecosystem.
Draining over 40% of California, it is the largest estuary on the West
Coast. The Bay and Delta support over 130 species of fish. San Francisco
Bay is home to three major ocean shipping ports. In marine transportation,
the Bay is the fifth largest U.S. port in crude oil handling and the fourth
largest container port. Urban-associated development, land-based pollution
sources, and water-allocation activities have reduced the quality and quantity
of the Bay's aquatic habitat.
The
Clearinghouse includes a searchable database of metadata compliant with
Federal Geographic Data Committee (FGDC) standards. Metadata entries provide
detailed descriptions of the content and sources of the data, often including
direct hypertext links to the data sets. Data and documentation have been
contributed primarily by State and local government agencies.
Fitchburg
Massachusetts, a city of approximately 40,000 population, provides GIS
data for Fitchburg and Leominster MA in Arc/Info export format and shape
files, including parcels, building footprints, wards, zoning, fire hydrant,
etc.
The
Florida Data Directory (FDD) is a digital library of metadata for Florida
geographic information assets. An extensive database on topics ranging
from Agriculture to Wetlands.

as an effective tool for Florida's environmental decision making efforts.

The
map room contains a variety of GIS information for Broward County including:e00
files, tif/tiff files, dxf files and a variety of text and pdf files. Offerings
will be expanded over the next few months to include more coverages, air
photography for the entire county, and additional socioeconomic and environmental
data sets.
Seminole
County GIS makes available over 60 layers of data for free download. This
data comprises both large scale data layers built on our parcel base (land
use, zoning, address data, street network) as well as small scale layers
utilized for planning purposes (soils, wetlands, contours, hydrography).
Hampton
Property Information provides real-time access to all Hampton property
by searching on TaxID, Owner Name, or Address. Direct access to GIS layers,
Real Estate data and full-color photos of the homes is available from this
web site.
This
site offers downloadable data for the State of Hawaii covering a wide range
of topics, including: Physical Features/Basemap Layers, Political Boundaries/Administrative
Layers, Natural Resource/Environmental Layers, and Hazard Layers.
An
interactive numeric and geospatial data engine. Includes geodata, numeric
data and interactive mapping. This site will serve as a clearinghouse for
the state's spatial and numeric data and hopes to achieve enduring information
environments for research and learning, to increase the use of public domain
government information by providing easier access, and to improve public
knowledge of the new accessibility to resources within INSIDE Idaho.
The
Illinois Natural Resources Geospatial Data Clearinghouse serves as a gateway
to GIS data and imagery for Illinois. Available data sets and documentation
(metadata) include: geology, water resources, nature preserves, wildlife
areas, land use, political boundaries, roads, census information, Public
Land Survey, Digital Raster Graphics files, and 1998/1999 Digital Orthophoto
Quarter Quadrangles.
The
Indianapolis Metropolitan Statistical Area consists of nine counties, which
include Boone, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison, Marion,
Morgan and Shelby. These counties all have a high degree of economic and
social integration with the nucleus of Marion County, which includes most
of the urbanized area of Indianapolis.
GIS
data for the State of Iowa. Includes links to counties, Iowa Department
of Transportation, Department of Natural Resources, Cooperative Soil Survey
and FEMA Q3 Flood Data.
The
GIS Support and Research Facility is a public computing facility established
to support the use of geographic information system (GIS) technology at
Iowa State University. The mission of the facility is to provide a high
level GIS research support laboratory for students, faculty and staff as
well as to provided GIS education and outreach to the ISU community and
the state of Iowa.
The
Natural Resources Geographic Information System (NRGIS) Library is an organized,
documented collection of more than 600 geographically referenced databases
tailored to the needs of Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) programs.
The NRGIS Library is maintained so that staff may research and integrate
information more efficiently and, ultimately, make better decisions regarding
the management, development and protection of Iowa's natural resources.
This
site provides a collection of various digital spatial information about
the the state of Kansas that is necessary to conduct spatial analysis.
Includes administrative, DLG, DEM, environmental, FEMA flood data information,
as well as, other data and links about Kansas and the region.

This
site offers population data for Louisiana. Information available includes
Labor Market Geographies, State Population Projections to 2020, State Hispanic
Population Estimates, and Parish Population Estimates by Age Groups
Large
dataset collection for the State of Massachusetts. Includes Image Data,
Vector Data, Infrastructure, Topography, Physical Resources, Hydrography,
Conservation/Recreation, Regulated Area, Environmental Monitoring, Coastal
and Marine Features, and Demographics.
The
University of Michigan Map Library contains a wide array of cartographic
materials, including maps, atlases, gazetteers, and geographical dictionaries,
and is also a campus resource center for Geographic Information Systems
(GIS), providing access to software and data in support of this technology.
The Map Library is available to the students, faculty, and staff of the
University of Michigan, and also to visitors from outside the University.
MetroGIS
(www.metrogis.org) is a GIS collaborative serving the seven county, Minneapolis-St.
Paul Metropolitan Area. MetroGIS’ functions focus on eighteen coordination
activities, one of which is supporting an Internet-based GIS data search
and retrieval tool. MetroGIS’ DataFinder includes not only data holdings
of its stakeholder organizations but also regional data sets developed
by or for the collaborative. Thirteen priority business information needs,
common to all MetroGIS stakeholder organizations, currently guide development
of the regional data sets. These data sets also have a many-to-one relationship
with corresponding business information needs. All metadata records comply
with the Minnesota's FGDC-compatible metadata content guidelines.
