Hallowell, ME — August 6, 2020 — Today, Blue Marble Geographics® announced that it is awarding the first Global Mapper Master award to Sandhel C. Matugas at Integrated Geosys Development Inc. in Antipolo City, Rizal, Philippines for his advanced use and mastery of Global Mapper in dam construction planning.

The first annual Global Mapper Master contest gave GIS and Geodetic professionals using Global Mapper software an opportunity to submit the details of a project they had worked on for a chance to win prizes and recognition for their outstanding work. Troy Hicks, a NR Locations Surveyor with the State of Alaska, received the second-place award for his work designing coordinate systems for his state's new planes zone, and Santiago Medina, a mountain guide with Argentina Extrema and educator at the Instituto Superior Andes del Sur, received the third-place award for his extensive work designing topographic maps for mountaineering, climbing, and trekking the Los Andes Mountain Range.

"Being an easy to use, end-to-end GIS software, Global Mapper is the only solution we needed in achieving our project goal of providing accurate and timely information to our client for dam construction feasibility study", said Sandhel Matugas, the 2020 Global Mapper Master first-place winner.

“The Global Mapper Master contest connected us with the work of outstanding GIS and Geodetics professionals around the world,” said Blue Marble Geographics President and CEO Patrick Cunningham. “We received many submissions, all showing great mastery of GIS techniques. It was truly difficult to pick the winners. That said, the work of Sandhel Matugas, Troy Hicks, and Santiago Medina stood out as great examples of advanced use of Global Mapper to solve important real-world challenges.”
