Sharing is Caring

Thanks to the new integration options, entire 3D designs can be used in augmented and virtual reality applications.

Cambridge, UK and Pittsford, NY – 6 October 2021: With the new version 7.1 of M4 PLANT, factories and plants can be designed even more efficiently and quickly in 3D. "The aim of this release is to allow users to create and modify designs for plants and factories ever faster. The new version of the software includes innovative features that open the door to augmented and virtual reality for users," says Mark Simpson, Product Line Manager at CAD Schroer.

The M4 PLANT 3D design software, developed in Germany, has always offered a comprehensive range of solutions for factory layout and plant design. With the new version 7.1, the software once again brings a host of improvements that can further accelerate the design of plants and factories.

Design factories and plants even faster

Time is a valuable commodity, which is why it is important to keep an eye on design speed during a project. This is exactly where the new version of M4 PLANT comes in, because here the tools for placing components into designs have been further optimised. Components can now be selected and placed even more quickly from catalogues. Catalogue handling and administration have also been expanded with functionality that further improves design quality. This makes it possible for users to do more at even higher quality.

Integrated project design

The data interfaces supplied with M4 PLANT are versatile and powerful. They open up extensive possibilities for users to create projects from a wide range of 2D or 3D data. With the new version, these interfaces have been further enhanced and supplemented with additional interfaces for BIM design data. This means that 3D design data can now be exchanged with project partners using the widely used BIM IFC format. This enables integrated design and guarantees simple and secure data exchange with customers and suppliers.

The road to augmented and virtual reality

Augmented and virtual reality bring new advantages that will shape the future of factory and plant design. The new version of M4 PLANT offers even more options for exporting 3D designs to the VR and AR compatible FBX format. This enables entire factories and plants to be loaded into VR and AR applications for a presentation or project meeting. When combined with the i4 MEETING VR solution, users can load 3D design data created with M4 PLANT 7.1 into a cloud-based VR meeting room and host an online meeting with participants from around the world. These forward-looking use cases are already possible today thanks to M4 PLANT version 7.1.

M4 PLANT: Try it now and see for yourself

The M4 PLANT software can be downloaded for a 30-day free trial from the CAD Schroer website. The manufacturer also provides extensive video tutorials and 1-to-1 technical support for companies. If you have any questions, CAD Schroer will help you quickly and competently.
