Sharing is Caring

Fairfax, Virginia - To assist surveyors with ideas on the observance of National Surveyors Week, Miller-Wenhold Capitol Strategies, the government affairs consulting firm and registered lobbyists for NSPS, and Miller-Wenhold Association Management, the contract staff of the Maryland Society of Surveyors (MSS), Virginia Association of Surveyors (VAS), and Pennsylvania Society of Land Surveyors (PSLS) today released information to help individual surveyors, firms, state societies, chapters, and other organizations plan and implement activities to promote the profession of surveying during National Surveyors Week, March 20-26.

John Palatiello, an MW partner, who led the original National Surveyors Week campaign in 1984 as Joint Government Affairs Director for the American Congress on Surveying and Mapping (ACSM) and the American Society of Photogrammetry (ASP), discusses the history of National Surveyors Week, its goals, and ways surveyors can observe this commemoration. The special web content includes a video, event suggestions, a sample news article and news release, and other material to help you celebrate National Surveyors Week, as well as promote the profession and your practice.

“Surveying today is a modern profession that utilizes and applies state of the art technology (UAV, LiDAR, CAD, Scanning, Total Stations), law, history, and mathematics to collect and apply data to solve problems and provide solutions for clients.

Surveyors contribute to community and society through environmental protection; economic growth; preservation of property rights; collection of data for decision-making; protecting public health, welfare and safety; and providing a foundation for engineering, infrastructure, and construction. National Surveyors Week is a wonderful opportunity to promote the profession and enhance the public’s understanding of surveying. We encourage all surveyors to host events during National Surveyors Week,” Palatiello said.
