Sharing is Caring

URISA is pleased to invite students to apply to be a volunteer and receive a complimentary registration to GIS-Pro 2016 in return for a few hours of volunteer service. This year’s GIS-Pro will be held in Toronto, ON at the Westin Harbor Castle from October 31- November 3, 2016.

Student volunteers are needed to assist with registration, monitor workshops and breakout sessions, contribute to various social media networks to keep followers afar engaged, and assist with other various tasks and responsibilities as needed by URISA staff.

“Volunteering at GIS-Pro is a great opportunity for students,” says Wendy Nelson, Executive Director at URISA. “Networking with GIS professionals at conferences is one of the most important skills to develop in order to find connections for future employment. Plus, you are able to attend the educational sessions to learn about the important topics being discussed in the field.”

URISA’s Vanguard Cabinet of young professionals is coordinating the activity. Students interested in applying for a volunteer position should contact urisa.vc@gmail.com to submit their information by October 7. Applicants will be notified by October 14 if they have been selected as a volunteer for the conference; student volunteers will receive complimentary conference registration, but are responsible for travel and hotel costs.
