Prince William County Uses Custom Mobile Application to Increase Efficiency

Prince William County’s Division of Environmental Services announced the release of their new mobile and desktop solution for handling stormwater facility and outfall inspection and compliance.

Timmons Group, a leader in geospatial solutions and custom application development, designed and developed the tool for stormwater best management practice (BMP) and illicit discharge inspections. The mobile iPad-based solution will be used by staff of the Watershed Management Branch to record illicit discharge and facility inspection data in the field. The web-based application will focus on stormwater facility MS4 report generation, executive report access, and user administration. “The mobile and desktop applications have increased the efficiency, speed and accuracy of our inspection and reporting processes,” said Benjamin Eib, Assistant Chief, Watershed Management Branch of Prince William County. “They have improved the way we maintain data throughout the Division. The functionality developed within the tools has allowed us to focus additional time on the inspections themselves, and ensures consistency between inspectors.” Additional benefits of the applications include dashboard notifications of pending inspections, automated report generation specifically designed to meet state of Virginia reporting requirements, decreasing data entry errors, GIS/mapping integration and timelier access to data and reporting.
