Dublin, Ireland. Thursday, 20th August 2015. Irish Mapping and GIS Solutions (IMGS) and its partner Intergraph, in conjunction with Rolta UK were awarded a contract in 2012 to supply a geographic information system (GIS) to ESB Networks Ltd. to support the planning, design, construction and day-to-day operations of its electrical distribution network. After 3 years of planning, designing, building and implementing, the new GIS system went live earlier this summer.

Intergraph's G/Technology and GeoMedia solutions were selected to enable and automate the generation of all of ESB Networks' necessary reports, plots, network diagrams and interfaces with SAP and other business and operational management systems. IMGS is Intergraph’s partner in Ireland and were in charge of the data migration process from the old system into the new one, using Safe Software’s FME solution to assist in the process. In addition, IMGS will also provide front line support for the new system.

"We fully expect our new system implemented by Intergraph to serve as a single enterprise solution for the full life cycle management of our network assets while improving workflow efficiencies, including extended workflows with other business critical systems," says John Gallagher, ESB Networks IT Manager. "We had confidence in the Intergraph and IMGS teams to understand our business and deliver the required solution. We were reassured in knowing that Intergraph and IMGS would work closely with us throughout the implementation process and continue to support us after go-live."

"IMGS was delighted to partner with Intergraph on the implementation of a national next generation GIS for ESB Networks" states Ciaran Kirk, General Manager of IMGS. "This next generation GIS will help streamline existing ESB Network workflows while meeting the challenges of providing a smarter 21st century electric grid."

"Intergraph is pleased to serve ESB Networks with an enterprise solution that addresses an end-to-end workflow for its electrical network," states Alun Pearsey, UK Country Manager, Intergraph Security, Government & Infrastructure. "Customers like ESB validate Intergraph's initiative to continue enabling utility companies around the world to power smarter decisions with the aid of Intergraph technology."
