Sharing is Caring

London, 20 November 2017 – BIM technology innovator 3D Repo has scooped the ‘One to Watch Company of 2017’ award at the prestigious Construction Computing Awards. Judged by a panel of peers and industry experts the award recognises the role of the tech disruptor in advancing the use of the web for sharing essential construction information. The 3D Repo solution – described as an online knowledge base – provides a cloud repository for BIM data that enables project stakeholders to access the latest 3D models and visualise real time changes, mark up issue and make informed decisions all via a web browser.

Master of Ceremonies Chris Cowdrey, former England cricket captain, presented the award at a black tie ceremony held on the 16th November at the Radisson Blu Edwardian, Bloomsbury Street, London. The award was collected by Rob Jackson of Bond Bryan on behalf of 3D Repo. Bond Bryan Digital are famous for their LEGO Architecture meets BIM series featured in 3D Repo.

“As a peer judged accolade this is an enormous honour and recognises the work we have undertaken in democratising data,” commented Jozef Dobos, CEO at 3D Repo. “To be on the winning podium with names like Autodesk, Bentley and Graphisoft and projects such as the Thames Tideway Tunnel and the Dianjiang Bridge, shows the role of technology innovation in moving BIM forward and developing new digital standards for the construction industry.”

With 3D Repo, architects, consultants and contractors no longer need to share massive proprietary files in a costly and time consuming manner. They can simply point their web browser to an encrypted online knowledge base in order to examine each project stage virtually, even on mobile devices. Users of the 3D Repo solution can then manage model revisions and highlight potential issues using live collaboration tools, which allow the whole project team to work from a single source of truth. The latest addition of 4D planning functionality supports further visualisation of construction sequences in VR as well as online.

More than 40 different 3D file formats are decomposed and federated in the company’s big data repository and additionally the project knowledge base can be accessed via VR giving a live experience with applications in Health and Safety training, client experiences and 4D planning.

The 3D Repo team has collaborated on a number of large scale projects with companies such as ARUP, Balfour Beatty, Skanska, Crossrail and Canary Wharf.
