Nanotron achieves and deploys a new release of its Location Engine and Server software, nanoLES 3 5K for up to 5,000 objects

The newly-updated nanoLES platform delivers instantaneous, high-precision location data for large mission-critical tracking applications in Livestock Health and Mining

Leveraging its highly scalable virtual synchronisation of location infrastructure, nanotron has now more than doubled the scope of existing commercial deployments

Nanotron Technologies GmbH has achieved and deployed a new release of its nanoLES 3 Location Engine and Server software. Through nanoLES 3 5K, nanotron is now able to accurately and reliably track up to 5,000 distinct objects in real time – more than double the scope of existing commercial installations.

The nanoLES product uses nanotron's patented ‘Sea of Anchor’ technology for highly scalable virtual synchronisation of location infrastructure. The software processes raw location data it receives from 'anchors', based on Time of Arrival (TOA) information, and delivers position information to customers’ business applications.

The ‘Sea of Anchor’ technology simplifies location infrastructure build-out. It eliminates the complex cell-based approach of competing offerings. To expand an installation, users simply add more tags and new ‘anchors’ connected to the same data backbone network. This scalability will accelerate nanotron’s ARPU growth as customers expand and gain comfort with the benefits of the company’s location awareness solutions.

In developing nanoLES 3, the company has validated location performance and throughput through extensive simulation and large-scale commercial installations. To cope with the increasing complexity of more objects populating larger areas, nanoLES 3 shows enhanced network resilience resulting in improved operational robustness of the product.

The new nanoLES 3 5K software is ideal for the company’s lead market of livestock health, where customers use it to accurately track dairy cows and their calves in real time by processing location data collected from wireless ear tags. Solutions based on nanoLES are helping farmers better manage their livestock and reduce the medication doses needed for keeping animals healthy. This enables the production of superior meat and dairy products, boosts farm productivity and greatly simplifies livestock management – thus improving animal welfare and increasing profits.

Dr Jens Albers, CEO of nanotron, said: "Scalability is the key factor for the operational and economic viability of any modern tracking solution. The new nanoLES 3 5K release has more than doubled our tracking capacity. This has become necessary as our new deployments of farms have increased approximately 5x in animal density. This continues to validate our technology as truly production level in large scale applications."

System integrators can use nanotron’s software platform to quickly and easily deploy tailored solutions with location awareness. This state-of-the-art platform ensures exceptional location accuracy and high system throughput, while keeping investment costs to a minimum. It is straightforward to integrate and install, and can be smoothly scaled up at any time.
