NORWOOD, Mass., December 12, 2019–GZA GeoEnvironmental, Inc. (GZA), a leading multi-disciplinary firm providing geotechnical, environmental, ecological, water, and construction management services, is honored to announce that Senior Principal Lawrence Feldman has received the 2019 Government Affairs Award from NAIOP Massachusetts, the Commercial Real Estate Development Association.

NAIOP cited Feldman’s work coordinating NAIOP’s extensive comments on the Massachusetts Contingency Plan, which dictates how hazardous waste sites are managed in the Commonwealth, as well as his “exceptional advocacy for the Boston real estate industry” at GZA. Feldman, a Licensed Site Professional (LSP) who has overseen the assessment and remediation of more than 250 Massachusetts oil and hazardous waste sites since 1993, has been a key member of the NAIOP Brownfields Redevelopment Committee since its establishment.

GZA CEO Patrick Sheehan said: “Larry has been a leader in the Massachusetts hazardous waste site cleanup and real estate industry for four decades. All of us at GZA are delighted to see NAIOP recognize and honor his long-standing commitment to helping the commercial real estate industry move their important and economy-driving projects forward all while protecting human health and the environment. Larry’s work epitomizes GZA’s commitment to solving complex challenges in natural and built environments.”

Feldman, a 40-year veteran of GZA who holds a Ph.D. in Geology from Boston University, has focused his professional practice on the assessment, remediation, and redevelopment of brownfield sites contaminated by oil and/or hazardous materials, and on providing litigation support in cases involving such sites. He previously served on the Massachusetts LSP Board of Registration and is a founder and past President of the LSP Association. He is currently serving as an appointee to the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection (MassDEP) Hazardous Waste Site Cleanup Advisory Committee. He also serves as president of the Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA).
