Esri UK and Planet reseller partnership allows users to perform more detailed and timely global change detection

Sharing is Caring

Esri UK today announced a new partnership with Planet, a global leader in the provision of Earth imagery. The agreement will enable Esri UK to resell Planet imagery to give users easy access to 50cm imagery, refreshed up to 12 times a day, for highly detailed change detection applications. The partnership will help customers maximise their investment in both GIS and imagery by providing a single solution for software and data.

A significant leap forward in how easily Esri UK customers can use detailed Earth imagery, for more accurate change detection, users now have seamless access to 50cm imagery within the Esri ArcGIS platform, for anywhere in the world.

New opportunities for change detection analysis include military usage for observing troop movements, pre- and post-natural disaster loss adjusting for insurance and a better understanding of potential crop yields and deforestation activity, to name a few. The new imagery is a chargeable data service, in addition to the existing Earth imagery included in an ArcGIS platform subscription.

The partnership will take advantage of the existing technical integration announced at last year’s Esri User Conference. Customers will be able to easily access, view and download Planet imagery within their workflow for deep-level analysis using ArcGIS Pro geoprocessing tools. They will be able to build models, perform raster operations and apply machine learning to Planet’s analysis-ready data.

“Esri UK is delighted to extend our data reseller network, to provide our customers with easy access to Planet imagery. Esri’s imagery analysis and change detection marries perfectly with Planet’s mission to make global change visible, accessible and actionable,” said James Harvey, Esri UK’s Partner Content Manager. “This partnership will provide our customers with business advantages through a greater understanding of where, why and when things happen. We look forward to working with Planet to ensure the future success of this partnership.”

“Planet is excited to be a part of the Esri reseller network in the UK,” said Jason Jones, Director of Channels and Alliances EMEA at Planet. “We look forward to helping Esri UK unleash the potential of Planet data in every industry, providing easy access, high-cadence imagery to the GIS community.”
