More than likely you don't ask your dentist how to replace the spark plugs on your car, nor do you ask the finance department how to get better insight from your maps. When you need expert advice, you seek an expert!

For this reason Pitney Bowes has launched the LI360 Collaboration Community, an online forum dedicated to furthering the application of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) in businesses and public-sector organizations. The forum is open to anyone interested in understanding how GIS is being applied to solve real world problems and the expanding definition of business intelligence.

“With more than 2 decades of experience in GIS, Pitney Bowes has chosen to open expose all our use cases, technical product content, and location intelligence experts through a state-of-the-art collaboration platform” noted Jeff Winter, Global Vice President of Marketing and Communications. “Our clients and the ‘GIS curious’ will see immediate value in accessing our product engineering and professional services teams through LI360 and will help accelerate the application of GIS, what we call Location Intelligence, across all businesses and functions.”

Pitney Bowes customers are seeing vast benefits from Location Intelligence in areas such as marketing, customer experience and operations. The LI360 platform will create greater awareness of these opportunities, and provide the practical ‘how to’ advice so that community members can take realize these benefits for themselves.

“While we have deep knowledge of Location Intelligence, the real magic will happen when we connect customers with other customers who share the same business challenges,” noted Dave Andrews, Director of Customer Marketing. “Even in the age of social media, these connections aren’t easy or inexpensive to make if you consider the cost of attending an industry event. Not many professionals can attend more than one or two of these events per year. Our community is always on. We’ll also work hard to create the interactions that will most benefit the community by including gamification features and contests that will motivate people to interact and share original content. In addition to being highly relevant and educational, it will be a lot of fun.”

Content and discussions on the site are organized by industry, function/job role, and product. There is also the opportunity for users to organize in groups of like-minded people, such as telecommunication professionals, to have more focused collaboration. Customers are also able to create sub-networks, so their GIS departments are more easily able to share information with their internal clients.

The platform is just weeks old but there are thousands of clients using it, interacting with over a hundred Pitney Bowes employees and business partners. The Li360 development team doing a lot to learn about what platform users like and dislike, and will continue to use user feedback to adapt and grow capabilities.

Recognized as a leader in the space by Forrester Research, Pitney Bowes offers a wide array of Location Intelligence software and services, the most well-known of which is MapInfo Pro.
