HardCode Thematics.zip – Save Thematic Styles as Default Map Objects

HardCode Thematics.zip is a MapInfo Professional utility designed to transform thematic layers into standard map layers by permanently applying their visual styles to underlying map objects. Once processed, the result behaves like a regular layer rather than a dynamic thematic layer.
Purpose and Benefits
In MapInfo, thematic layers are typically dependent on styling rules that update dynamically. This tool removes that dependency by “hard-coding” the thematic appearance directly into the table’s object styles. This approach is useful when:
- You need to preserve map styling for distribution or archiving
- Thematic appearance must remain fixed regardless of data changes
- Performance or compatibility requires avoiding live thematic layers
Core Functionality
The application allows users to extract thematic styling and apply it directly to map objects. Users can either:
- Create a new MapInfo table with the applied styles, or
- Overwrite an existing table, replacing its default object styles
Once completed, the output layer is treated as a normal map layer by MapInfo Professional.
Available Options
The utility provides several configuration choices:
- Map Selection: Choose the target map and layer
- Operation Mode: Automatic or Interactive
- Apply Options: Control how styles are extracted
- Thematic Layer Selection: Specify which thematic layer to convert
These options make the tool flexible for both quick processing and more controlled workflows.
