HardCode Thematics.zip is a MapInfo Professional utility designed to transform thematic layers into standard map layers by permanently applying their visual styles to underlying map objects. Once processed, the result behaves like a regular layer rather than a dynamic thematic layer.

Purpose and Benefits

In MapInfo, thematic layers are typically dependent on styling rules that update dynamically. This tool removes that dependency by “hard-coding” the thematic appearance directly into the table’s object styles. This approach is useful when:

  • You need to preserve map styling for distribution or archiving
  • Thematic appearance must remain fixed regardless of data changes
  • Performance or compatibility requires avoiding live thematic layers

Core Functionality

The application allows users to extract thematic styling and apply it directly to map objects. Users can either:

  • Create a new MapInfo table with the applied styles, or
  • Overwrite an existing table, replacing its default object styles

Once completed, the output layer is treated as a normal map layer by MapInfo Professional.

Available Options

The utility provides several configuration choices:

  • Map Selection: Choose the target map and layer
  • Operation Mode: Automatic or Interactive
  • Apply Options: Control how styles are extracted
  • Thematic Layer Selection: Specify which thematic layer to convert

These options make the tool flexible for both quick processing and more controlled workflows.

  • Supported GIS: MapInfo Professional
  • Minimum Version: 6.0 or higher
