Michael Johnson is a writer and corporate communications consultant specializing in geospatial technology. He was a member of the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC) start-up team and served on the OGC staff from 1994 to 2000 before launching his own consulting business. He continued working with OGC as an external consultant until May 2010, when he returned to the organization as Senior Staff Writer, overseeing written outreach and communications initiatives.
Michael holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Wisconsin and a master’s degree in education from Worcester State University. His professional background spans teaching, technical writing, and marketing communications, with particular focus on real-time computing systems and geospatial technologies.
