WISER Expands IP Portfolio, Receives 14th Patent

WISER Systems, Inc. has received 11 new patents since January of 2020.

RALEIGH, NC, May 05, 2021 — Last month WISER Systems, a leader in wireless real-time location systems (RTLS), was awarded a new patent for WISER’s proprietary ultra-wideband (UWB) positioning devices. This is WISER’s second patent awarded in the past month and WISER’s 11th since January of 2020.

WISER’s recent awards have addressed innovations ranging from physical device design to techniques for managing multipath signals between wireless devices. The United States Patent Office has also awarded WISER multiple patents for applications of location data in the healthcare space. Furthermore, the company has received several international patents, with seven more patents pending and eight more under development.

Based on patents won last year alone, WISER’s growing portfolio situates the company in the upper tier of patent-winning organizations in the Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area. The leading companies for patent awards in North Carolina’s Research Triangle, for example, received nine or more patents in 2020, according to the Triangle Business Journal.

A developer of both innovative hardware and software solutions, WISER’s current projects center on creating new RRLT hardware and software algorithms, enhancing system precision and utility, and expanding the application of the WISER Locator across even more industries and use cases. Last year WISER released new ruggedized tracking devices as well as numerous software features to enhance the WISER Locator’s front and back-end capabilities. The company’s ongoing R&D efforts have a goal of generating over a hundred patents over the next several years, according to Hollar.
