 - Blue Marble Geographics (bluemarblegeo.com) is pleased to announce the immediate availability of version 7.2 of the GeoCalc Software Development Kit (SDK). This powerful toolkit allows developers to embed the world’s most comprehensive coordinate parameter database into custom geospatial software ensuring precision in any coordinate transformation process. New and updated functionality in the 7.2 release includes new projection definitions, new search functionality, support for WKT 2 coordinate system and transformation syntax, and access to version 8.9 of the EPSG database.

Blue Marble's geospatial data manipulation, visualization and conversion solutions are used worldwide by thousands of GIS analysts at software, oil and gas, mining, civil engineering, surveying, and technology companies, as well as governmental and university organizations.

For over two decades Blue Marble’s GeoCalc engine has been the blue ribbon standard for efficient and accurate coordinate management. An integral component of countless applications, GeoCalc provides GPS, surveying, engineering, and mapping software with the foremost coordinate transformation capabilities. The GeoCalc database offers access to over 12,000 coordinate system objects with basic pre-defined linear and angular units, ellipsoids, geodetic datums, and coordinate reference systems. GeoCalc also contains advanced geomatic tools such as vertical datums, grid shifts, time dependent coordinate transformation models (HTDP), and the ability to generate custom best-fit transformations and custom coordinate objects of any type.

GeoCalc version 7.2 introduces support for Well Known Text (WKT) 2 syntax for coordinate system and transform parameters from the OGC’ EPSG database. The release provides several new projection definitions including the Colombia Urban Grid and Natural Earth 2, a new worldwide projection. Also added is a new magnetic model, GUFM1, which provides over 400 years of historic geomagnetic parameters. Version 7.2 offers an update to the 14-parameter time-based transformation which now includes support for PVR and CFR methods.

“The GeoCalc SDK sets the benchmark for coordinate management and reliable location technology,” states Patrick Cunningham, Blue Marble President. “Each release demonstrates our commitment to providing the same accuracy standards to our OEM partners that we build into our own Geographic Calculator software.”

The latest GeoCalc release offers several dialog box improvements including new search functionality for streamlined querying of the database, full control of the recently used list providing efficient access to frequently used conversion and transformation parameters, and a preview button for testing coordinate operations.
