Dewberry Announces Promotions in Fairfax, Virginia

Dewberry has announced the promotion of more than 65 employees nationwide, including 12 staff members within the firm's headquarters in Fairfax, Virginia. The promotions coincide with Dewberry's ongoing expansion of engineering, architectural, and consulting services in the D.C. metropolitan region, where the firm has practiced since 1956.

These promotions include:

• Phil Thiel has been promoted to executive vice president and will oversee the firm’s federal market strategy and business development program nationwide, as well as the geospatial practice.

• Jerry Sparks, PE, PMP, CFM, has been promoted to senior vice president. Sparks is a senior water resources engineer and directs the firm’s resilience solutions group, hich includes work for the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) Office of Resilience. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from West Virginia University (1989) and a graduate certificate in technical entrepreneurship from George Mason University (2011). Sparks is a member of the Project Management Institute (PMI), and the Association of State Floodplain Managers (ASFPM) and serves as the secretary on the Executive Board of Trustees of the ASFPM Foundation.

• Parul Amin, PE, Matthew Bullock, Marcus Cadman, PE, and Sid Pandey, CSMCCEP, have been promoted to associate. Amin is a structural engineer and earned her master’s in structural engineering from George Washington University (2005) and her bachelor’s in civil engineering from Sardar Patel University (1999). She is a professional engineer in Maryland and Virginia. Bullock is an emergency management specialist who earned his bachelor’s degree in architectural engineering from the University of Southern Mississippi (2001). Cadman is a project engineer in the site/civil group. He is currently pursuing a masters in civil engineering at Virginia Tech. He earned a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Virginia Tech (2013), and is a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE). Pandey is an assistant production manager in the geospatial group, and was named a 40 under 40 Geospatial Leader in 2018 by xyHt Magazine. He is currently pursuing a masters in professional studies in geographic information systems at the University of Maryland, College Park. He earned a bachelor’s degree in geography from Pennsylvania State University (2014), and is a member of the Maryland State Geographic Information Committee.
