Kinesis Vehicle Telematics Helps Keltic Seafare Track Fleet Movements

Sharing is Caring

Crewe, UK, 25 July 2019 – Scotland’s Keltic Seafare are using vehicle tracking from Kinesis to co-ordinate the collection and delivery of top quality live shellfish.   Keltic source hand dived scallops, live langoustine and lobsters from the crystal clear waters off the coast of Scotland, supplying live shellfish to the top chefs and finest restaurants in London, throughout the UK and Paris.

Kinesis vehicle telematics is a critical part of the logistic operation helping co-ordinate with fishing boats for collection, plan HGV dispatch and manage onward distribution with contractors.  The system can also be used to monitor and improve driving standards for additional health and safety monitoring and cost control benefits.

“Kinesis was implemented to replace an existing system which we found ‘clunky’ and not at all intuitive to use,” commented Alasdair Hughson, Managing Director of Keltic Seafare. “We chose Kinesis based on the ease of use and the cost, which was far lower than the previous solution.”

Keltic operates a mixed fleet which collects live shellfish from dedicated fishermen operating along the North West Highland coast of Scotland. Once produce arrives at the factory in Dingwall it is sorted and packed to order before being dispatched by a next day delivery service to chefs, restaurants and discerning private customers across the UK and Europe.

“Ours is not a 9 to 5 operation,” continued Hughson. “So, being able to access vehicle locations, estimated ETAs and driver behaviour alerts, 24/7, from any internet connected device is critical to our logistics operation. In order to ensure live produce journeys, from seabed to table, within a 24 to 36 hour window, we need to know exactly where our vehicles are at all times. Kinesis helps us to achieve this.”

“Kinesis is intuitive and the interface, even on mobile devices, is easy to use. It is cost effective and, we hope, will deliver efficiencies in vehicle routing, co-ordination and driver behaviour as we plan for continued growth,” concluded Hughson.

Kinesis offers the most efficient solution for vehicle tracking and asset and driver management saving businesses time and money. Awarded Highly Commended in the 2016 UK IT Industry Awards, Kinesis won a Real IT Award for Turning Data into Insights in 2017 where Chief Information Officer Dave Roberts also secured Highly Commended in CIO of the year category. Also in 2017 Kinesis outshone the competition securing the winning spot in the category of Connected Car Solution of the Year 2017 in the Big Data and IoT Excellence Awards 2017.
