Woolpert Selected for NOAA Coastal Geospatial Services Program

Dayton, Ohio — November 10, 2021.
Woolpert has been chosen by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Office for Coastal Management (OCM) to participate in its Coastal Geospatial Services Contract (CGSC), a five-year, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity (IDIQ) agreement with a combined ceiling value of $49 million.
Under the contract, Woolpert will deliver a broad portfolio of services including topographic and bathymetric lidar acquisition, thematic and photogrammetric mapping, high-resolution terrain product development, survey and control work, cadastral mapping, GIS services, and geospatial training. The CGSC is designed to provide federal, state, and local agencies with streamlined access to advanced coastal geospatial capabilities.
According to NOAA officials, the contract vehicle enables coastal stakeholders to rapidly obtain high-quality geospatial data needed for a wide range of applications. These include land-use planning, coastal hazard assessment, ecosystem conservation, marine spatial planning, water quality analysis, and climate resilience initiatives.
This marks the third consecutive selection of Woolpert for the CGSC program. In the most recent year, the firm—working alongside project partners—has supported numerous coastal initiatives across the United States. These efforts include collecting bathymetric lidar data for benthic habitat mapping at Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan, conducting studies on wetland ecosystem dynamics in Wisconsin’s coastal watersheds, and developing GIS-enabled monitoring tools for community-based flood documentation platforms.
Additional work has focused on advancing sustainable nearshore management strategies, including research aimed at protecting sensitive habitats along the Illinois shoreline. Collectively, these task orders highlight both the diversity of coastal challenges and the growing reliance on high-quality geospatial data to address them.
Woolpert representatives noted that NOAA’s coastal mission increasingly depends on accurate, timely spatial information to support decision-making at multiple levels of government. Through the CGSC framework, coastal managers are better equipped to mitigate storm impacts, manage erosion, protect ecosystems, and guide responsible development.
The newly awarded contract is currently active and will support NOAA’s coastal programs through the next five years.
